Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Services.

Liam Fitzgerald

Question:

81 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the case of an 11-year-old child (details supplied) Dublin 13 who is on the waiting list for placement in a language school and who has not received speech therapy services for a considerable time; and if she will take steps to ensure that he is placed in an appropriate school and has access to a speech therapist.

The child in question was referred for placement in one of the special classes for language impaired children attached to St. Patrick's national school, Drumcondra. The position is that both of these classes are at present filled to capacity. However, the question of whether an appropriate arrangement can be made for the child in question is at present receiving urgent attention.
