Vol. 405 No. 9

Written Answers. - Child Learning Disabilities.

Peter Barry

Question:

197 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Education if she will set up a special unit within her Department, to investigate the incidence of children with specific learning disabilities and to make recommendations on their education.

The Primary Education Review Body, in its recent report, recommended the setting up of a special committee to examine and report as a matter of urgency on a range of issues relating to children with learning difficulties. I have indicated my acceptance of this recommendation and arrangements are in train to have the committee established.
