Vol. 406 No. 2

Written Answers. - Bellvue (Waterford) Road Infrastructure.

Austin Deasy

Question:

19 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will grant aid to access roads to the portal development at Bellvue, Waterford, to the extent of 100 per cent in view of the fact that the roads in question are to be constructed to national primary standards.

The spur to be provided from the N.25 at Slieverue to Belview is specifically to service the new port development at this location. Under an agreement reached between Kilkenny County Council and the developer concerned, one third of the cost of the new road will be met by Waterford Harbour Commissioners. The balance will be financed by way of State road grants. I am satisfied that this is an equitable arrangement in the circumstances.
