Question:92 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on plans to participate in the EC programme of action in favour of the elderly.
Written Answers. - EC Programme for Elderly.
I have already expressed in public my pleasure at the Council of Ministers' decision to designate 1993 as the Year of the Elderly and undertake a programme of Community actions for the elderly in the period 1991 to 1993.
My Department are represented on an expert committee which is advising the EC on the types of studies and research which might be undertaken as part of the action programme. Also, at my suggestion, the National Council for the Elderly has established a committee to draw up specific plans for 1993.
The Deputy can be assured that I will do all I can to make this undertaking, on behalf of the elderly, a success.
