Vol. 406 No. 4

Written Answers. - Irish Olympic Council.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

135 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if she will make a special grant available to the Irish Olympic Council to help to prepare athletes properly for the 1992 Olympics.

The 1991 grant to the Olympic Council of Ireland for the preparation and training of athletes for the Olympic Games in Barcelona next year has not yet been decided. I can confirm, however, that the grant will be not less than £505,000, the sum allocated to the Olympic Council of Ireland in 1990. A final decision on the matter will be made as soon as possible.
