Vol. 406 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drogheda Schools.

Michael Bell

Question:

60 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education whether her Department have made further progress on the planning of a new block of accommodation at St. Mary's diocesan school, Drogheda, County Louth, and the upgrading of home economics facilities at St. Laurence's community college; and whether she has any plans to replace four 20 year old prefabricated classrooms at St. Laurence's community college which are in a very poor state of repair.

As the Deputy will be aware I have already authorised the school authorities to proceed with the final stage of architectural planning for the proposed new building at St. Mary's diocesan school.

The vocational education committee have already been authorised to proceed with the upgrading of the home economics facilities at St. Laurence's community college. The possibility of carrying out remedial works is being examined in consultation with the VEC which have been asked to submit proposals and costings.
