Vol. 406 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

76 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if she will list all the organisations which were allocated funds from the £34 million national lottery surplus by her Department in 1990; the amount which each organisation received; the type of project involved; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Expenditure by my Department on activities funded from the national lottery amounted to £22.27 million in 1990 and was distributed as follows between the broad headings under which national lottery funds are allocated:

£m

Irish Language

1.50

Arts and Culture

2.89

Youth and Sport

17.88

Total

22.27

Expenditure on the different activities within the youth and sport headings was as follows:

£m

General expenses of youth organisations and other expenses in relation to youth activities

8.76

Grants for the provision of recreational facilities

1.06

General expenses of sports organisations and other expenditure in relation to sports activities

5.60

Grants for the provision of major sports facilities

2.46

Total

17.88

The amount of time required to provide details of all projects funded through the lottery would be inordinate. I will be glad, however, to provide details of any projects in which the Deputy has a particular interest.
