Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Roadway Landscaping.

Austin Currie

Question:

184 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make moneys available to Dublin County Council in order that flowers and shrubs can be planted along the Lucan by-pass adjacent to Palmerstown, Dublin 20 in order to bring this stretch of the by-pass up to the standard of landscaping on the remainder of the road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Palmerstown-Ballydowd dual carriageway was completed in 1984 and the landscaping provided was in accordance with accepted standards at the time. The landscaping of the Western Parkway, which is now in progress, will involve some additional planting in the vicinity of the interchange with the Palmerstown-Ballydowd scheme.

Having regard to the present financial requirements for major improvement works to national primary roads in the Dublin area, I do not propose to allocate funds for additional landscaping of the Palmerstown-Ballydowd road at this time.
