In my statement to the House on 6 December 1990, Vol. 403, No. 6, Columns 1599-1601, I indicated that no information on the prescribing of DES in this country during the forties, fifties and sixties is available. However, at the same time, I indicated that prescribing was not likely to have been widespread because, from the early sixties, it was medical practice that the use of drugs in the care of women in the areas of gynaecology and obstetrics should be kept to a minimum. I also invited Deputy Fennell to make available any information she might have on the matter and would take this opportunity of reiterating that invitation.
