Vol. 406 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

33 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in issuing a tax free allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's agent wrote to the inspector of taxes on 29 January 1991, requesting an updated tax free allowance certificate. The inspector replied on 31 January 1991 and requested further information. The agent supplied the necessary information on 21 February 1991. A balancing statement for 1990-91 was issued on 25 February 1991.

The tax free allowance certificates for 1990-91 and 1991-92 were issued on 4 and 8 March 1991. The taxpayer's agent has already verified receipt of the revised tax free allowance certificates.
