Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Policing in County Kildare.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

224 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange for extra policing in Balyna, Cadamstown, Broadford and Moyvalley areas of County Kildare; if he will allow for the provision of a 24 hour Garda patrol car in the area; if he will take any other measures to ensure the elimination of petty crime; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The policing arrangements for individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who inform me that the areas referred to in the question are receiving regular attention from Enfield station and the district headquarters at Trim. I am informed that a special mobile Garda unit has recently been set up in the Louth/Meath division to tackle the problem of mobile criminals and that an additional detective garda will shortly be appointed to Trim to assist in the investigation of crime in the district.
