144 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the number of firms in which NADCORP has an investment, (b) the total amount of the investments and (c) the number of jobs that can be attributed to NADCORP investment.
Details of the progress and investment activities of the National Development Corporation Ltd. are provided in their annual reports. The latest report, which related to 1989 and also covered post balance sheet activities up to 11 April 1990, was laid before each house of the Oireachtas on 18 July 1990. The report showed that the total number of companies in NADCORP's portfolio was 52 with employment in excess of 1,800. The report also showed that investments made by NADCORP in the period 11 June 1986, vesting day when it took over from the National Enterprise Agency, to 31 December 1989, totalled £18.417 million (at cost).
