Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - Petroleum Price Controls.

Peter Barry

Question:

145 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he intends to act on the recommendations of the International Energy Agency that the Government should phase out controls over petroleum prices and market conditions as soon as possible.

I am currently more concerned with the report of the Fair Trade Commission into the supply and distribution of petroleum products in Ireland than that of the International Energy Agency relating to the energy policies and programmes of Ireland to which the question relates.

The Commission's report, including the issue of control over price and market conditions, is under close consideration and will be published shortly.
