Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residential Care.

Tony Gregory

Question:

197 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if a residential place in Cheeverstown House, Dublin 16 or similar suitable accommodation will be made available for a person (details supplied) who has spent the past ten years in St. Paul's Special Unit, Beaumont, Dublin 9 which is no longer able to cater for her individual needs; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have had inquiries made of the Eastern Health Board and I have been informed that the person referred to has been offered a place in the mental handicap unit at St. Loman's Hospital, Ballyowen. I understand that the family has agreed to this move. Arrangements are now being put in place by the Eastern Health Board and St. Paul's, Beaumont, to ease the transition for the patient to her new environment.

The Eastern Health Board are confident that the St. Loman's service will provide this person with an excellent quality of skills training and social development.
