Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - Copyright Legislation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

229 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications when the copyright legislation will be amended to cater for TV3.

Bernard Allen

Question:

230 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he proposes to put TV3 and Independent radio stations on the same copyright footing as RTÉ.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 229 and 230 together.

The Government have today made an Order under section 45 of the Copyright Act, 1963, extending the provisions of that Act which relate to television and sound broadcasts made by RTE to the independent broadcasting services established under the Radio and Televisions Act, 1988. A change of legislation is not necessary to achieve the objective in question.
