Written Answers. - FEOGA Grant Applications.

Donal Carey

Question:

42 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of FEOGA related grant applications in his Department at present; and the number of these which will be submitted to the EC and when.

Brendan McGahon

Question:

58 Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the number of FEOGA grant applications submitted to his Department in 1989 and 1990; and the number of these which were approved and submitted to the EC.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 and 58 together.

In 1989 and 1990 the number of FEOGA grant applications received by my Department was 53 and 24 respectively.

The applications submitted in 1989 were dealt with under EC Regulation 355/77 and in accordance with the provisions of that regulation all 53 were transmitted to the EC Commission.

The applications received in 1990 fell to be dealt with under a new Regulation 866/90 which requires the member state to transmit applications to the Commission by way of operational programmes rather than individually. Of the 24 applications received in 1990, 14 have been submitted to the Commission so far.

The total number of applications in my Department at present, including those carried over from 1990 is 42. All of these applications will be considered for inclusion in a further operational programme to be submitted to the Commission in July next.
