Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Austin Deasy

Question:

45 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether the country's milk quota for 1990-91 was exceeded; if so, the amount; and the value of the milk involved to the producer.

At this stage it is not possible to give a reliable estimate of milk deliveries for the 1990-91 quota year as most co-operatives and dairies have yet to furnish final figures for deliveries made during the period.

In any event the levy for the quota year just ended has been complicated by the recent Court of Justice judgements which have implications for the quota of mulder producers generally. The Commission has prepared proposals with a view to complying with the court judgements but the final decisions by the Council of Ministers will not be made for some time yet.
