Vol. 407 No. 3

Written Answers. - TB Reactors.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

47 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the severe financial hardship being experienced by farmers because of the extended period of restrictions of herds affected by TB; if he has any proposals to introduce an income supplement for the farmers who are affected; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that financial hardship can be experienced by farmers because of the extended period of restrictions of herds affected by TB.

Since 1 February 1989 income supplement is paid to qualifying herdowners in respect of each full month of the period during which the herd is restricted because of TB, including the period of extended restriction.
