Question:

57 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Finance whether a scheme put forward by a company (details supplied) to raise capital was sanctioned for tax concessions approved under the research and development scheme; whether this proposal complied with the terms of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that their obligations of confidentiality prevent them from giving details of individual cases. However, the commissioners assure me that they are obliged to ensure that the relevant conditions are met before tax relief is granted under any scheme.
