Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Vandalism Complaints.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

158 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Justice if, in relation to recent serious incidences of vandalism in the Howth Junction cottages area, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5, he will undertake to have permanent Garda foot patrols appointed in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are aware of complaints by residents of the Howth Junction cottages relating to problems in the area. A senior Garda officer has met with a delegation from the residents to discuss these problems and the area is now receiving special attention from Garda foot and mobile patrols as well as from neighbourhood gardaí from Howth and Raheny Garda stations.

The Garda authorities have assured me that the situation is being closely monitored by them and I am satisfied that whatever further action may be appropriate to deal with the problems in the area will be taken.
