Question:181 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the cost which would arise if all third level student fees were borne solely by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Third Level Fees.
It would cost approximately £39.5 million if all third-level students fees were borne solely by my Department. This takes into account that £26.5 million is already paid by my Department toward student fees under the higher education grants or VEC scholarships schemes and from ESF sources.
