Question:73 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the annual cost of school vandalism in Cork city for the past five years.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information which is readily available relates to the total estimated cost or recorded cases of arson and malicious damage to schools in Cork city for the years 1988 to 1990 and is given in the following statement:
1988, £18,486; 1989, £19,823;
1990*, £122,037.
* 1990 figures are provisional — one incident of arson in 1990 is estimated to have cost £100,000.
