Question:

74 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of all young offenders who are under 17 years of age in the Cork city area.

The information which is readily available in respect of juvenile offenders in the Cork city area is given in the following tabular statement:

Persons admitted to the Juvenile Liaison scheme are those who have acknowledged their offence and have agreed to co-operate with the advice and supervision of the Garda Juvenile Liaison Service—thus avoiding court proceedings in consequence of their offence.
