Brian Cowen

Question:

45 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the land reclamation grants, if any, which are available for farmers who wish to improve marginal land at present with particular reference to a case (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Grant aid for land reclamation, excluding drainage other than drainage works of a minor nature which are a necessary part of land reclamation, is available at the rate of 30 per cent in the less favoured areas and 20 per cent in all other areas as part of a plan taken out under the farm improvement programme.

The Department have no record of an application for grant aid for land reclamation from the person mentioned.

These payments are being processed and will issue shortly. There was no delay in payment.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

48 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a beef-cow grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

These applicants' 1990 special beef premium scheme grant is being processed and a joint payment will issue to them shortly.

They are not eligible for 1990 beef cow schemes grants as their lands are not situated in a disadvantaged area.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

49 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary did not receive his entitlement to a flexi-milk quota; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The milk deliveries by the producer in question in 1990-91 were below his quota level and consequently he was neither eligible for nor required any flexi-milk last year.
