Competition Bill, 1991: Financial Resolution.

I move:

That, for the purpose of any Act of the present session to prohibit, by analogy with Articles 85 and 86 of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, and in the interests of the common good, the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition and the abuse of dominant positions in trade in the State, to establish a Competition Authority, to amend the Mergers, Take-overs and Monopolies (Control) Act, 1978, and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid, it is expedient to make provision for the charging and fixing of fees in respect of notifications to the Competition Authority of agreements, decisions and concerted practices which have as their object or effect the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition."
