Vol. 409 No. 4

Written Answers. - Air-Sea Rescues.

Enda Kenny

Question:

47 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine the number of air-sea marine rescue operations where assistance was given by the Royal Air Force in the past five years; the location and date of each; the estimated cost to the British Government of such rescue operations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Assistance was provided by the UK services on 11 occasions in 1990. I wish to refer the Deputy to Parliamentary Question No. 12 of 15 March 1990, columns 443 and 444, which gives the information for the previous four years.

I have no information on the cost of UK search and rescue services. Search and rescue services are provided free of charge.

The updated statistical information is in the form of a tabular statement which I proposed to circulate in the Official Report.
