Vol. 409 No. 6

Written Answers. - Flood Damage Compensation.

Brian Cowen

Question:

83 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the relevant qualifying percentage for eligibility under the 1990 fodder scheme set up for the compensation of farmers who suffered from flood damage, and if he will outline the present position regarding the application by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Qualification for aid under the 1990 scheme referred to was for farmers: (i) up to 60 livestock units, whose livestock loss was 2½ per cent or more and/or whose fodder and grazing loss amounted to 5 per cent or more of normal wintering requirements; (ii) over 60 livestock units, whose livestock loss was 5 per cent or more and/or whose fodder and grazing loss amounted to 10 per cent or more of normal wintering requirements.

An application from the person named was deemed ineligible because the losses claimed did not qualify under the percentages set.
