Vol. 409 No. 8

Written Answers. - Drogheda (County Louth) Court House.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

78 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the plans he has to replace Drogheda Court House in County Louth in view of the fact that it cannot be used because of its bad structural condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the position in relation to the court house in Drogheda, County Louth and I can assure the Deputy that the matter is under examination. I am also aware that provision is being made for temporary alternative venues for court sittings.

The building in question is one of a number of courthouses throughout the country which require renovation. Since priorities have yet to be established between the different court houses requiring attention, I cannot indicate, at this stage, what priority can be given to the court house in Drogheda. I will continue to keep the matter under review.
