Vol. 409 No. 10

Written Answers. - Animal Slaughter Monitoring.

Dick Spring

Question:

48 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the arrangements which were in place for monitoring animals presented for slaughter by his Department prior to 1 February 1989 together with the report of the average number of spot checks which would have taken place to that date.

Each animal presented for slaughter at meat factories has always been subject to an individual veterinary examination before and after slaughter.
