I assume the Deputy is referring to the sub-regional review committees which were established as part of the monitoring provisions of the Community support framework — the agreement between Ireland and the EC Commission which governs the provision of structural fund aid to Ireland up to the end of 1993.
The membership of the committees is constituted as follows:
(a) The chairman and one other member [to be selected by the council concerned] of each county council, county borough council and other local authority with a population in excess of 15,000 [including environs].
(b) A representative of each of the following organisations:
Chambers of Commerce of Ireland;
Confederation of Irish Industry;
Construction Industry Federation;
Federation of Irish Employers;
Irish Congress of Trade Unions [2 representatives];
Irish Co-operative Organisation Society;
Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association;
Irish Farmers Association;
Macra na Feirme.
(c) The county and city managers of the relevant local authorities.
(d) A representative of each of the following Government Departments:
Agriculture and Food
Environment
Finance
Industry and Commerce
Labour
Tourism and Transport
(e) A representative of the EC Commission.
The sub-regional review committees were convened in July 1990 and have each met regularly since. Details of the number and dates of the meetings of each of the review committees are set out in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
