Question:

42 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Finance whether it is the Government's intention to acquire the Blasket Islands as a national park.

An Blascaod Mór National Historic Park Act, 1989, provides for the establishment and maintenance on An Blascaod Mór of a National Historic Park. Section 4 of the Act provides that the Commissioners of Public Works may acquire any land on the island and they have initiated acquisition proceedings.
