Question:

56 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline, in relation to the decentralisation of certain sections of his Department to Cavan: (1) the precise number of appointments made under Department of Finance circular 5-89 to the grades of assistant principal, higher executive officer, staff officer and clerical officer, (2) the parent Departments of those promoted to each grade and (3) the previous grade of those promoted to executive officer.

(1) In relation to the decentralisation of certain sections of my Department to Cavan, the number of appointments made under Department of Finance circular 5-89 is as follows: Assistant Principal, 4; Higher Executive Officer, 10; Staff Officer, 1; Clerical Officer 12.

(2) The parent Departments of those promoted to each grade were as follows: Assistant Principals (4): Marine, 1; Defence, 1; Office of Public Works, 1; Agriculture and Food, 1.

Higher Executive Officer (10): Industry and Commerce, 3; Labour, 1; C&AG, 1; Health, 1; Justice, 2; Social Welfare, 1; Revenue, 1.

Staff Officer (1): Revenue.

Clerical Officers (12): Agriculture and Food, 8; Marine, 2; Justice, 1; Social Welfare, 1.

(3) The previous grades of the 14 officers promoted to executive officer were as follows: Staff Officer, 5; Clerical Officer, 9.
