Vol. 410 No. 4

Written Answers. - Single European Market Protections.

John Bruton

Question:

59 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the present position in relation to the achievement of the objective of the White Paper Completing the Internal Market in regard to Community-wide protection of intellectual property in trade marks, patents, biotechnological inventions and new varieties of plants.

With the exception of the position relating to new varieties of plants, the information sought by the Deputy was set out in my reply to Question Number 45 of 20 June 1991 on this matter.

On the matter of intellectual property in new varieties of plants, the position is that a draft proposal from the Commission is currently under discussion at Council working party level.
