Question:

73 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline the total tourist receipts for 1990; if he will give a breakdown of these receipts between foreign visitors and home holiday makers.

Total tourism revenue in 1990 is estimated at £1,552 billion. The CSO balance of payments figure for foreign earnings from tourism in 1990 was £1.139 billion, and the balance of £413 million was generated in the home market.
