Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - Baldoyle (Dublin) Foreshore Works.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

37 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for the Marine if, in view of the works which are being carried out opposite the mall on the seashore at Baldoyle Estuary where a concrete slab has been set down, he will outline if the persons who laid down this concrete slab have the authority of his Department; and if he will further outline the reason such works are being undertaken.

The position is that Whitepark Construction Ltd. submitted an application to my Department for a licence under the Foreshore Act, 1933, to lay a surface water outfall pipe opposite the mall on the foreshore at Baldoyle.

The proposal was discussed with the local authority and the wildlife service of the Office of Public Works, who had no objection. It was also published in the newspapers and no objections were received from third parties.

The relevant works have been licensed by my Department under the Foreshore Act, 1933. The works are necessary in connection with a housing development for which full planning permission and by-law approval has been granted by the local authority.
