Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Safety.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

105 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the measures he intends to take to control parking outside schools in view of the danger to school children; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A ban on the parking of vehicles at school entrances could be provided for in traffic and parking by-laws made by the Garda Commissioner, with my consent, under sections 89 and 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961. The gardaí are examining the question at present.
