Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pension Appeal.

Frank Crowley

Question:

297 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be made regarding the widow's pension appeal of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned is in receipt of a non-contributory widow's pension. Based on an assessment of her means in 1990 she was entitled to receive a pension at the rate of £39 per week. A more recent assessment however indicates that her means have increased and she is now entitled to pension at the rate of £31 per week.

The revision in the means is due to the fact that she has sold some property and the proceeds must be assessed in accordance with the formula set out in the Social Welfare Act.

Arrangements have been made to have her rate of payment adjusted.
