Question:

382 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline, with regard to the new rural policing plans in particular as they affect the Kanturk and Millstreet area headquarters in Cork, the additional manpower, clerical assistants, word processors and vehicles being made available; and the resources, if any, being made available to refurbish official Garda houses in these areas.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the following additional personnel and resources are being provided in the Kanturk Garda District to implement the new community policing scheme:

1 Garda

Millstreet

1 Sergeant

1 car/van

1 Garda

1 microcomputer

1 Clerical Assistant

Resources are also being made available for necessary redecoration/ refurbishment of Meelin, Millstreet, Newmarket and Rathmore stations. There are no proposals at present for refurbishment of official Garda houses in the Kanturk district.
