Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Registration of Driving Schools.

Ivan Yates

Question:

406 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify the situation in relation to registration of driving schools and the enforcement measures being taken in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The scheme of registration of driving instructors, which is in the process of being set up, will be a voluntary scheme and the question of formal enforcement does not therefore arise.

The two national organisations representing motor schools and driving instructors, which are jointly promoting the scheme, are at present discussing a structure for an agreed examination syllabus which will be the basis of the scheme.
