Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Scheme Refurbishment.

Austin Currie

Question:

447 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline, regarding the proposed Cherry Orchard refurbishment scheme in Dublin 10 (a) the date when the work will commence (b) the anticipated completion date and (c) the name of the contractor; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The refurbishment by Celtic Construction Limited of 16 houses at Raheen Park and four houses at Raheen Drive is under way and is expected to be completed in mid-1992. Work has been completed on earlier phases of the project involving 42 houses. Revised proposals for the phasing of work in this estate are awaited from Dublin Corporation, which is responsible for the planning and execution of the project. The time-scale for the completion of work will depend on the capital provided for the remedial works scheme in the annual public capital programme, the demands by authorities generally for assistance under the scheme and the priority given to the estate by the Corporation in the assignment of funds from their capital allocations. Accordingly, it is not possible to say when the entire project will be completed.
