Written Answers. - County Clare School Transport.

Donal Carey

Question:

684 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Education if she has examined the appeal of the board of management of Inch national school in Ennis, County Clare for a restoration of their school bus service since they have demonstrated that they have 11 qualified children to travel from the townland of Tullasa, Cappalea and Clonfeigh.

The number of eligible pupils from the areas mentioned for whom Inch national school is the nearest school is below the number required under the school transport scheme to establish or retain a service.

Question:

685 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Education if she has examined the appeal made to the board of management of Stonehall national school, Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare for the restoration of the school bus service as they have the minimum qualified number of children available to travel from the townlands of Ballycaley, Caherleague and Carrowbane.

The service referred to in the Deputy's question was withdrawn at the end of the summer school term 1991 as the number of eligible children offering for transport was below the minimum number of ten required to maintain the service. This position has not changed.
