Vol. 411 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Kildare Television Reception.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

91 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if his attention has been drawn to the complaints of poor television reception in Newbridge, County Kildare; if he has any proposals to resolve the problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have received complaints about the cable service in Newbridge and these have been taken up with the licensed operator in the area. The cable company have indicated to my Department that considerable capital cost has been incurred in endeavouring to bring the cable service up to a consistent level of quality and reliability. My Department have been assured that work already carried out in Newbridge has resulted in an improvement in service recently. The work of upgrading the system is ongoing.
