Vol. 411 No. 5

Written Answers. - Speed Reduction Devices.

Joseph Doyle

Question:

16 Mr. Doyle asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the progress which has been made by his Department in relation to the re-examination of the existing legislation on ramps and bollards which his Department are undertaking at present.

Regulations made in 1988 provide for the use of road ramps and bollards to reduce vehicle speed and restrict access to roads in residential areas in particular. I will consider possible changes in these regulations when the views of all road authorities are available and when I have the results of experiments with alternative speed reduction devices which Dublin and Cork County Council and Dublin Corporation have been asked to undertake.
