25 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider making a contribution to the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen to enable it to establish and maintain a national secretariat and living accommodation for homeless former personnel; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
As I indicated in reply to Question No. 21 on 19 June 1991, the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen and Women are making arrangements to build a home for ex-service personnel on a site which is being acquired from Dublin Corporation. I understand that the organisation will be seeking financial assistance under the Department of the Environment's voluntary housing scheme to defray a substantial portion of the cost of the new building.
