Vol. 411 No. 8

Written Answers. - Co-Operative Society Meetings.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

68 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline the minimum number of meetings to be held each year for the proposed co-operative society as under the present regulations a member can be disqualified if he misses a meeting which is held in a six month period.

I wish to inform the Deputy that the draft rules governing the fisheries co-operative societies provide that the management committee of a society shall meet at such times as the members of the committee shall think fit.

Copies of the draft rules were forwarded to all the interested groups for their observations and of those who have forwarded observations none have made any comment in relation to the number of meetings to be held.

I will review the clause referred to by the Deputy to see if there may be any anomaly.
