Vol. 411 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Noonan

Question:

73 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

74 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a grant for a slatted unit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan as the work has been completed for some time at a high cost to the farmer concerned and all inspections have been carried out.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

75 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a grant for a slatted unit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan as the work has been completed and inspected by his Department and the farmer is anxious to be paid due to high borrowing on the strength of the grant.

Every effort is made to have payments under the farm investment aid schemes made at the earliest possible date. Claims are, of course, processed strictly in order of receipt and, therefore, the period between receipt of a particular claim and its payment is affected by the overall volume of claims to be processed at the time in question and the position in regard to budgetary resources. Having regard to the level of claims currently on hands, it is likely to be about two months before this payment can be made.

Michael Finucane

Question:

76 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the current status of an application for a horticultural grant for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick under the programme for rural development; and if he will outline when it will be paid as a considerable timescale has elapsed.

An application for grant aid for a potato project under the operational programme for rural development was approved on 13 August 1991. Payment will be made on completion of the work.

An application for a horticulture grant under the same programme is being considered. The applicant will be informed of the decision at the earliest possible date.

Michael Finucane

Question:

77 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the current status of an application for a grant under the agri-tourism scheme for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

I am advised that the application referred to by the Deputy has been received by the Shannon Development Company who are operating the scheme in the mid west on behalf of my Department. As the funds available for this scheme have now been fully committed the project cannot be grant aided at present. It will however be considered in the event of additional funds becoming available.

Frank Crowley

Question:

78 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was refused a special beef premium.

The person named applied under the 1991 special beef premium scheme for a grant in respect of an animal which had already received premium under the 1990 special beef premium scheme and which had a cattle identity card clearly notched and rubber-stamped to that effect. Under the EC regulations governing the 1991 scheme, therefore, my Department have no choice but to rule the applicant out of the 1991 special beef premium scheme and to debar him from the scheme for 12 months from 22 October 1991.
