Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - Third Level Grant.

Austin Deasy

Question:

207 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she will approve a third level education grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the fact that he is pursuing further studies based on his BA degree in Theology; and her views on whether he is entitled to the grant in view of the circumstances involved.

The administration of the higher education grants scheme is statutorily entrusted to the local authorities.

I understand from Waterford County Council, who are the relevant local authority in this case, that the person in question does not qualify academically for the award of a higher education grant under the terms of the scheme.
