Vol. 412 No. 6

Written Answers. - Exchequer Costs.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

138 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Health the cost or the estimated cost to the Exchequer of exempting (1) the first £3,225 income from the health contribution levy for single persons, (2) the first £6,450 for married persons and (3) the first £4,860 for lone parents.

It is estimated that the cost to the Exchequer arising from these exemptions would be approximately £64 million in a full year.
