Vol. 412 No. 6

Written Answers. - Provision of Surgical Shoes.

Tony Gregory

Question:

139 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of any difficulties that exist in provision of surgical shoes in the Eastern Health Board region; the number of persons on waiting lists for such shoes; and when a person (details supplied) in Dublin I will be reached.

The Eastern Health Board have indicated that once an eligible person is recommended for the provision of surgical shoes by their specialist, the board sanction the provision of the required item and order the item from their supplier.

I understand that the supplier is currently processing 53 orders for new or replacement shoes from the Eastern Health Board region. I have also been informed that the person referred to by the Deputy has applied for a replacement pair of surgical shoes and that it is expected that these will be provided within the next two weeks.
