Vol. 412 No. 6

Written Answers. - Confidential Greencore Report.

Alan Shatter

Question:

15 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the inquiries, if any, which have been instituted with regard to the leaking to the national press of the confidential report by the board of Greencore to the Government; whether a Government decision was made to publish the report; if so, when; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following the disclosures in a Sunday newspaper on the 49 per cent shareholding of Sugar Distributors (Holdings) Ltd., the Government sought a full report on all aspects of the matter from the board of Greencore. No Government decision was made to publish the report.

While my Department have no overall responsibility for this public company, I have to say that I regret and deprecate the leaking of the report. I understand that no inquiries were instituted regarding the leaking.
